This morning Ryan had his 4 month visit. Here’s the data!
Weight: 14 lbs, 13 oz (50%)
Length: 25 7/8 in (75%)
I guess I should calm down on the chubby comments, because homeboy is exactly where he should be! However, he has had a major growth spurt in the two months he’s been away from the doctor’s office. He’s gained 3 lbs and grown two inches!
He got three shots and took them like a champ. He demonstrated his carefree personality and “talked” and smiled the entire visit. For the first time, I didn’t have to discuss gassiness issues!
We briefly discussed readiness for solids. I didn’t mention I had already started rice cereal over the weekend at a few people’s request. But, I did ask if there was any reason I shouldn’t. Some research shows that babies should not be introduced to foods until six months, however his pediatrician fully supports our roles as parents to decide if he’s ready or not. And in our case, he was ready for rice cereal considering he has been sleeping 9-10 hrs at night after introducing it! Before we were getting 5-7 hr stretches! Now, if he’d go to bed later than 7 pm then maybe he’d make it through the entire night! But it’s all progress! I’m not in a hurry to introduce other foods. I will likely try around 5 months.
And now for comparisons:
At 4 months, Tyler weighed 14 lbs 4 oz and was 26 1/4 in long. So, it looks like Ryan is fatter and shorter ;)
We go back at 6 months. Did I just type that?!
Time is flying!
