This past weekend, we took Tyler to a birthday pool party for one of his friends. Since we can rely on his swim vest, I didn't wear a bathing suit. Josh brought one in case he decided to get in. I was dressed in a long, strapless dress--the same one in our family picture at the top of my blog. Towards the end of the party, Tyler had to use the restroom, so I took him in there to go. Afterward, he forgot his swim vest was not on. We couldn't get the words out loud enough before he was already jumping in the pool. He was down at the deep end away from where all the other kids and parents were. My first thought was to look for Josh, who at that time was holding Ryan. Josh says that he was trying to hand me Ryan so that he could jump in and get Tyler, but I apparently didn't comprehend and before I knew it, I was jumping in the pool. It wasn't until I got out with him that I realized the show I probably gave people. My jewelry was at the bottom of the pool, and my dress had floated up. Nice!
Tyler was fine. We always have to remind him that he has to have that vest on before jumping in. This is like the third time he's done this. A friend of mine let me borrow her clothes.
We left not long afterward :) How's that for birthday party entertainment?!

Carter did the exact same thing two weeks ago at a pool party. Went to the bathroom, came out and forgot his floaties weren't on and jumped right in. Thankfully he can swim without them though but only for short distances. Scary for sure!!
You poor thing! I bet you were scared to death. I'm SURE all the other moms sympathized completely. I would have done the same thing.
And hey, you get to tell him later how you saved his life by jumping in a pool with all your clothes on. ;)
