One month before his third birthday, I am SO excited to post that our potty is no longer a virgin! That is...Tyler's potty. The past two days Tyler has shown more interest in wanting to sit on the potty. He tells me. I never asked him. He'd sit on it but nothing would happen. It was a start, and I was completely fine with that progress. In fact, we were just thrilled that after he told us last night he had to go (right as we were sitting down at dinner) that he, by himself, went into the bathroom, took his pants and diaper off, and climbed onto the potty. All by himself! It was so funny walking in the bathroom to see....

Anyway, cute picture but he didn't do anything!
So, today my friend, Kara, and her daughters Elisa (2 1/2) and Charlotte (7 mos) came over to play. Elisa is potty trained, so he immediately was interested that she was using his potty---actually we have a small potty and a large potty. Elisa was using the big toilet. We've put Tyler on both the small and the large with no luck. Anyway, after they left he talked about it that afternoon. Josh left to go to a concert, so I decided I'd let/make Tyler be naked from the bottom down for a while. He hates to be naked, but I distracted him. We played cars, and I told him that he better not pee pee on my floor or I'll be sad. In many ways, I knew he would and it would be ok. So, I've never really had to look "down there" at my child's anatomy for song long to figure out when he'd be going. Again, not in the job description! I didn't catch him in enough time the first time, and sure enough his cars got splashed as did the car garage. Hey, he missed the floor! I ran him to the potty and explained it needs to go IN the potty. I promised him all afternoon ice cream if he'd go. So, we went back to play after cleaning the mess up. About 2 minutes later, I was pretty sure he was about to go so I hauled him fast over to the little potty and sat him down. I said "go!" and sure enough the kid went.
As if to celebrate the moment royally, his potty played music as he peed! haha! It's a potty that plays a tune when you pee or poop in it. He nor I had obviously never heard a peep out of that potty, so we both screamed in excitement...probably too much because I think he stopped midstream! He immediately clapped and said "i get ice cream!" You sure do, bud!
So, we did ice cream, and halfway he told me he had to go potty. We hauled it back over to the little potty and sure enough he went longer this time. The only thing is that halfway he was so excited about the music that he wanted to actually see his progress which resulted in a slight mess on the floor. Luckily, he was in the middle of eating ice cream so I didn't have to promise any more of it!
So, we'll see where this takes us! I'll work with him tomorrow if he's willing.
