Thirty One

I wish I was referring to those adorable bags, but I'm referring to my age!  Yesterday was my 31st birthday.  Man, that really sounds old.  I was actually OK with turning 30, but 31 sounds way older.  Perhaps its because on the other side of my work wall is a new college graduate--all bubbly and thin and oblivious to life's demands.  Or perhaps it's because I'm NINE years closer to 40.  Whatever the reason is, it's funny how the older I get the less enthusiastic I get about my birthday. However, I have family and friends who love to recognize me.  And Facebook might be an addictive site, but it definitely allows you to be spoiled on your birthday!  I think I had over 60 emails yesterday!
I spent my birthday at work, of course, but was able to take a lunch break to eat with Josh and then eat dinner out with the family before Tyler's baseball game.  The boys were totally excited about this picture.  Can't you tell?

Tyler didn't win his game or play as well as last Friday, but it was OK with us because he tried.  Both boys slept in this morning which meant I got dressed in peace.  And, this weekend I will be traveling home to celebrate all the October birthdays with my family.

I think I realized that my priorities changed regarding birthday expectations when talking to Tyler yesterday.  I told him all I wanted was to hang out with my favorite redheads.  Never thought that would come out of my mouth ten years ago!  Then again, my life was dramatically different at 21! The pictures below show the difference in both Tyler and I over the past three years.  I'd say we both look younger :)
