So, we’ve been doing baseball for a little over a month now. It has just not really clicked with Tyler, and he has never hit the ball. He would say he didn’t like it and wouldn’t really try all that hard. We didn’t want to quit halfway through the season, so we have made him stick it out. Friday evening, he had a 7pm game which I was already complaining about. I didn’t want to go and neither did he. On the ride there, I told him that sometimes if someone tries really hard, they do really good and that all I cared about is that he tried. He promised he would, and I didn’t honestly have high expectations. I mean, he does booty shakes in the outfield. How do you yell at that without holding back the laughter?
He was up to bat, I was holding Ryan, and all of a sudden he HIT the ball on the first pitch! The crowd and the coach went crazy for him to run! He went to first base, then to second, and then to third. The next time he was up, he hit it but was tagged right as he made it to first. The last time, he hit it and made it all the way to third and when running to home decided to WALK the last few steps! He was tagged, and I thought we all were going to have a heart attack. Regardless, I was a crazy mother screaming and yelling---something I did not think I was capable of doing. Funny how your kids can change that! The coach named him player of the game, and Tyler was so oblivious to the whole thing. He said, “did I do good?”
Unfortunately, Josh was working and had to get text updates along the way. I felt bad that he wasn’t there since he is the one driving him to most of the practices and helping him in the yard. We are so proud of our player of the game! Honestly, we are just proud that he HIT the ball and ran!!
Of course, I did not bring the camera to get any pictures or get the team picture they took afterwards. But, I did take this one when we got home (at 9pm by the way!).
