For years now, it’s been a topic of conversation in our household. Mainly, it’s been my topic of conversation as Josh is completely content with where we live. It was an adjustment for me to move to a city life to a much more country life almost five years ago. The closest gas station, grocery store, and drug store is 10 minutes away. Having a husband with strange hours, I’m home many nights and weekends alone with two kids. Feeling like I’m out in the middle of nowhere with not much to do is draining. Can you imagine if I decided to stay home full time?! I’d drive myself nuts! I remember the first morning in our house waking up and hearing a rooster crow. I knew we weren’t in Kansas anymore. Or maybe we were!
But what initially attracted us to this area was the land and the peacefulness. Not to mention the affordability. We have an acre of land that we have nurtured from hay and seeds to fully landscaped. We are not on top of our neighbors, which was a huge criteria for us moving into a house.
It seems like each year we bring up moving and then back out. But as time grows closer to Tyler starting kindergarten, we knew if we were going to make a move, it needed to happen before school started next August. So, we started the process…
of touching up paint…
staining the deck…
putting out mulch…
painting and putting out a new mailbox… (bless our neighbor’s hearts…they just can’t seem to not hit it at least quarterly).
and de-cluttering…
One must not forget that someone must oversee a day’s work.
We spent a good week and the entire Labor Day weekend getting our house ready for the market. Our timeline is pretty flexible with moving. While we don’t expect to sell quickly, if we did we would rent in this area in order to keep Tyler at his preschool as well as Ryan with his sitter. We feel that it’s too complicated to try and change preschools right now, and we are happy with where they both are. Plus, we want to be able to take our time to find a house we like or have ample time to build if we go that direction. So, we are hoping that in 11 months or less we will be moved out. I have to say that I’m nervous due to the economy, but our house is nice and so cheap compared to most houses in other areas. So, hopefully what attracted us to this area will attract someone else. :)

Good luck! I know this is what you want and I hope you have a smooth transition into a new home!
But honestly- I am totally jealous of your current house and land! I would looove a house in the country! But I'd totally be the neighbour with the chickens! lol
Good Luck with your new mission! You should put a link to the Realtor on your blog. SOmeone who reads it may know a friend who is looking, etc.. Word travels fast online!
Good luck selling!!! (And I still think you should move back to Jamestown/Greensboro!) :-)
