Speech! Making Room! And Giving (?)

We found out Tyler qualified for speech therapy through the school system last week. My first meeting is next Thursday!

We are in the middle of determining what is a "baby toy" and what is a "big boy toy" for Tyler right now, so that we can put some things up and START the process of making more room in this house. Right now my living room somewhat resembles a toy store. Funny thing about Tyler (or maybe all boys?) is that he doesn't have a lot of big stuff. It's all little figurines or cars. And a LOT of random toys that came in happy meals. I'd really love to throw them away when he's not looking!

I had a fun conversation with Tyler in the car yesterday on the way to preschool. He was fussing because he wanted to watch TV in the car. I blurted out, "well, Tyler do you know that there are a lot of kids who don't even have a TV??" I suddenly started to feel like that mom telling her child that kids in Africa would love the food he's not eating on his plate. But I continued on because Tyler actually was amazed by this. "No TV?!" "Yep, no TV. And you know what else? Some kids don't have toys either." Well, he was just amazed. I finally threw in that some kids don't even have a bed. I asked him where he thought that meant they slept. Tyler responded by saying the floor. I asked him if we should do something to help, and he agreed we should. He first suggested giving them a telephone. (??) Later, he decided on OUR house. I think we agreed that some nice new toys and clothes would suffice based on the LeConey budget this year.

Tyler walked into preschool announcing to his classroom that "I'm lucky because I have a TV, toys, and a bed."
