Blogging 101

A few things for those who are blog-reading illiterate. And I certainly don't mean that as a putdown. Even I find things out everytime I post on here that I didn't know. So, I'm learning too!

Leaving and reading comments: At the bottom of each post, you will see a hyperlink where it will tell you how many comments there are. If you click on that, it will bring you to a screen where you can read comments, if there are any, and where you can write your own comment. It will ask you for some information to verify that you aren't some strange person, and then you are done.

Labels: I have the ability to categorize posts into categories I can make up. So, when I post something that is strictly about myself, I'll put the label "Elizabeth" on it. Sometimes labels will overlap. For example, I might talk about our Easter. I'd label it "holidays" and also "Tyler" since most of my post is about him. Anyway, the point is that you can look on the right side of the screen and see a section called "Labels (posts by topics)." If at any time you are dying to read by category, this will take you there and show you all the posts for that category. If you want to read all the drama that went down with Tyler's daycare before we moved to preschool, click on "daycare." And so on.

Here are the labels that are listed on the right side of the blog screen.

Links: At the top right of the screen are two links that go straight to the two sites I use to upload pictures to. Dropshots is what I use on an almost daily basis to share pictures and videos. Smugmug is where I upload pictures monthly so that I, along with family, can order better quality pictures than what dropshots produces.

Blog Archive: Also on the right side of the screen is a listing by month of all the posts. Inside of searching by label (as mentioned above), you can view by date.

Blogs I keep up with: It's just that. They are links to other blogs that I follow. If they are public blogs, then even you can look if you so choose.


Now, I'm going to label this....hmm... I guess "Elizabeth."
