Magic Kingdom had early magic hours that morning which meant it opened one hour earlier. This meant 7am and since it was a low crowd day, we opted to sleep in!!! We woke up, got ready and headed downstairs for some breakfast. Shortly after, we got on our resort boat that makes a direct 5 minute ride to Magic Kingdom! It was an awesome alternative to a bus which stops at another resort on the way. Plus, we got to ride on a boat and get there in less than 8 minutes!
We arrived at Magic Kingdom at 8:30am and walked straight in. Having not been to Disney since I was seven as a true vacation (I went a few times in High School to perform), it was just as exciting for me as it was for the kids. I actually felt my heart melt a little (as cheesy as that sounds) walking through the gates and witnessing Main Street all decorated. I didn't remember much of anything from years past. It was like the boys and I were experiencing it for the first time together. It was, as they say, truly magical.
We took our time and walked through the roads taking it all in. Ryan, a tad confused, still absorbed it all.
I knew that the best place for us to start was Fantasyland, so we headed there first! Along the way, the boys admired the big castle!
And around the corner, the fairy godmother came out to greet Tyler!
Ryan seemed to have warmed up by this point, so we started with an easy ride in Fantasyland...but a classic. Can you guess? I'll never get the song out of my head!
Ryan couldn't wait to hop on the ride!
Our luck continued as we rode Peter Pan (my absolute favorite!), Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, and the teacups! For clarity, my motion sickness kept me OUT of the teacups!! :)
We watched Mickey's Philharmagic 3D show which was awesome! However, it scared Ryan a bit. But it was super neat! After that, we headed into Tomorrowland, and Josh darted straight to Space Mountain. Bless Tyler's heart, he had no clue and volunteered to go on it with Josh. He was tall enough, and of course Ryan wasn't, so I got a child swap pass so that I could go on it with Tyler after. Ryan and I hung out while we waited. :)
However, I never got to use that child swap because Tyler was terrified during the ride! That was the end of any roller coaster options over the next days :) We headed over to the Buzz Lightyear ride, and the boys loved it!
It was getting close to lunch time, so we ate at Cosmic Rays. I ended up getting chicken fingers and fries so that Ryan could eat off mine. Tyler got a PB&J, and Josh got a hamburger. Desserts AGAIN! Just so that you can witness the prices, here is a menu picture.
It was time to head over to Adventureland!
Our first stop was at the magic carpet ride. This was a favorite, and one that the boys had to repeat!
Next we headed to the Jungle Cruise. This was probably the longest wait time we had all day (20 mins!). I'm not sure exactly why, as it wasn't my favorite ride. No complaining here though! Tyler thought he was tough enough to handle it!
Next up was the Pirates of the Carribbean ride. It was fun, but I didn't understand the hype at all! It was a little dark and at time scary, but it didn't seem to phase the boys! On Saturday, Tyler was signed up to get his pirate makeover! More on that later!
It was time for the BIG moment of the day--meeting MICKEY! I wanted to wait until halfway through the day to make sure Ryan was fully adjusted. Although, looking back I think he would have been fine earlier! We went to Town Square and stood in a very short line to meet Mickey Mouse. When it was our turn, the boys could hardly wait to approach him with their autograph books! Ryan took me by TOTAL surprise!
After their visit, Ryan wanted a plush Mickey, so we provided. :) Tyler actually wanted one too, but we convinced him that he would probably see something better he'd like later in our trip. I knew this would be the case! And it was!
It was time for ice-cream snacks and the parade. As a side note, I don't know what they put in these Mickey ice-cream snacks, but they are GOOOOD! Oh, and really messy too! Just ask Josh, who got it smeared all over his jeans :)
It was at this point (around 3:30pm) that I had thought we would head back to the resort, but the boys should no signs of slowing down. So, we went with it! And since meeting Mickey was such a huge hit, we decided to meet a few more. :)
This might have been one of my favorite moments of the day. Watching the boys, in particular Ryan, get so excited about meeting the characters was really awesome. Again, I just did not expect it out of Ryan. I figured he would be scared! He would try to break line to get up and see them!
By this point, we were about ready to head back to the resort. But before we did, we took a ride on the train!
As we got off the train and waited in line for our boat to take us to the resort, we looked down to see this.
He slept through the boat ride and all the way back to our room. Tyler was tired too, but he never managed to snooze. However, we had about 2.5 hours to waste before our late dinner reservations at 7:50. So, we all did a little snuggling while watching TV :)
Our dinner was at the resort and at Whispering Canyon. The atmosphere is nothing like the title of the restaurant and is anything BUT quiet. :) The food was AMAZING. It was a build yourself all-you-can-eat dinner package. We got as much meat, sides, and dessert as we wanted! We had ribs, pulled pork, citrus fish, herb chicken, sausage, corn on the cob, veggies, mashed potatoes, cornbread, baked beans, etc! It was yummy!!
But if you ask for ketchup, be warned! The waiters yell "we need ketchup!!!" and the last table that got ketchup gets up and brings you multiple bottles!
That pretty much concludes our second day at Disney and our first day at Magic Kingdom. I'm getting ahead of myself in blogging world, but I will say that no day beat this day. It was truly magical and perfect! We all slept GREAT that night!
