One of the big perks (most of the time) is traveling for work. We exhibit at trade shows across the US to educate people on what DCRI does. This is my first time going to this particular conference, ASA (American Society for Anesthesiologists). It's rather humorous how it all works at the booth. We have giveaways such as stress balls, water bottles, pens, etc. Foreigners eat this garbage up. It's like Halloween for them. They hold out their exhibitor bags and dump all our stuff in them. If we are lucky, we actually catch what they are mumbling.
But to back up to the first part of the trip, I think I've come to the conclusion that I hate flying. Hate it. My stomach turns, I get anxious. I just do not like it. I fear we will crash. It's bad. Luckily, I had the distraction of the small child behind me who'd obviously never flown on an airplane before. If I didn't have a child of my own, I would have no doubt been highly annoyed with this little fellow. Between the kicking of the seat and the continuous yelling "WOW we are in the air!" it was quite an interesting flight. Luckily, I dove deep into People Magazine's latest gossip and tuned him out after a while. Still, I couldn't help think how much I can't wait to take Tyler to Orlando and Disney World.
Our hotel is gorgeous. No surprise since Duke doesn't normally fail us. There are more kids than I expected. Sure, it's Orlando which is kidsville, but we are staying in a conference center hotel. I just wasn't expecting it. I look out my window and see floods of them in the huge pool. If I had brought my suit and lost 20 lbs, maybe I'd have been down there with them...
Tonight, we are going to a restaurant called the Oceanaire. Seafood....yumm! Last night, I savored over a scrumptious $28 fillet with glazed carrots and mashed potatoes. Oh, and two and a half Mr. Pibbs. I sure do know how to dine! lol. We are walking most everywhere here which makes me feel better about my food choices.
I can't wait to one day take Tyler here. He would LOVE it!
