Last week ended our benefits open enrollment at Duke. I've been battling over it for a week because once you decide you can't change it for another year. The only thing I can change is my dependents, which I'll do in May to add the new baby to my insurance. First, I had forgotten to add Tyler to my dental plan last year. So, I had to do that. And second, I was trying to decide if I needed to go to a more expensive plan which covered private speech therapy at far more places and cheaper than my current plan. I had called the speech coordinator beginning last week to see if they could give me any idea if Tyler will qualify for preschool services. I knew they had been out to do some evaluations. Technically they have until the end of November to finish and then make a decision. If he qualifies, then I could keep my current plan. If he doesn't, then I didn't want to be stuck another year with a plan that didn't cover private therapy. Well, of course they couldn't say yes or no. I got the impression that he will likely not qualify due to the paperwork they've done so far. So, I went ahead and changed my insurance. I hope he does qualify even though I just changed insurance, but if not at least I have other options.
Tyler's preschool has three confirmed H1N1 cases. Two are teachers, and all are in the 4 year old class. I knew he wouldn't bypass it being in a preschool. We are praying that he will miss it! I haven't been able to get him in for any vaccines yet. Really, I was only decided on the seasonal vaccine for him, but even that is unavailable right now at his ped's office.
Tyler is learning all about Fall at school. He tells me how the leaves turn colors, fall off the tree, and then the tree is bare. He amazes me with what he knows these days. They really teach him so much at school. He's known his days of the week and months of the year for a while, but lately he's been counting in spanish :) He informed me that he has a best friend. I asked him why he is his best friend, and he told me because Judah wears a spiderman shirt. :)

Hailee has a best friend too at school...guess who it is? Ben, that's right...a BOY! She told her daddy that he was her best friend and she loves him...the look on Brian's face was priceless! ;)
I read this and thought it was hilarious (the reason for the best-friendship); I told my husband too - we agreed that it is a perfect reason to be friends :)
