Behavioral Chart

So bless my husband's heart, last Monday night he went out and bought posterboard, stickers, a tupperware box, and lots of small, cheap toys. We've had a problem with Tyler's behavior for weeks. I was really scared it was due to my being sick and spending less quality time with him. He was acting out at school and having accidents daily. Josh came up with the idea of mimicking the behavioral reward system they have at school. No, we didn't make an apple tree, but we did make a chart. He bought all of the supplies and told me to put my creative powers to use and make it happen. So, that Monday night despite my nauseousness, I made the chart while Tyler watched.

Tyler can get up to 2 stickers a day.

A smiley sticker = good day at school (no apple falling)
A star sticker = no potty accidents.

He only needs to get one sticker per day (though 2 is what we strive for) in order to go to the treasure box at the end of the week. So, he needs to have a sticker every day. Since we started on a Tuesday, we gave him Monday as a freebie.

As you can see, it's working :)

His teachers are aware of the system and use this at school as a reminder if he begins to act out. Tyler gets really excited about coming home and putting his sticker(s) on the chart. And, as long as it's working, Josh and I are happy too!

In addition, we continue to have Tyler help out around the house. He earns his dimes for cleaning the table, putting up his plates when he's done eating, cleaning his room, and doing other things. He is getting quite a collection in his piggy bank and definitely understanding about "mooooonnnney!"
