I finally talked to the our County's Speech Coordinator this morning. I talked to her about a month ago and she was giving me information that didn't make sense. Since my insurance doesn't cover private speech therapy, I was trying to call her back and ask her again about the free school system therapy. We've played phone tag this week. More like me not having time to call her back. She found out yesterday what I assumed was right all along. She talked to the Preschool Services Director through the school system and said that if Tyler qualified, they would do the therapy AT his existing preschool rather than him having to get therapy at the elementary school during the week. And, of course it's free. I KNEW it was possible from talking to others, but I was starting to think that maybe our county was different. She had no idea, so it's news to her. Anyway, the director is supposed to call me to set up a time to evaluate Tyler's speech. If he qualifies, which I hope he does and feel he will, they will move forward with therapy and come out to his preschool. It's a long process, so it might take a few months if he qualifies. We just want him to clear up his words with the right consonant sounds so that it won't affect his reading later on when he starts school. The private speech therapist that was going to come to his preschool last week to do free screenings had to cancel. So, right now he has not been triggered by a professional as needing it. But, his preschool director has mentioned that she would classify him as someone who should be evaluated. I hope to hear from her soon!

so glad you finally got up with someone who could clarify for you! It is definitely a process, though... so hang in there!
