Five Life Snipits

So many funny or interesting things have happened this week, that I figured I should jot it all down.  So, here we go...in no particular order.

  1. We've had a lot of activity on our house this past week.  Last Saturday, we had a two hour showing that ended with positive feedback.  Then, on Tuesday we had another showing that ended in even better feedback.  Word is that we might be getting an offer, so I cannot tell you how much I'm praying this will happen for us!
  2. I asked Tyler yesterday what he understood about the meaning of Easter.  His first response was about the Easter bunny.  I asked him if he was sure and reminded him of a few facts.  His response then was, "Well, Jesus is pretty smart.  He totally figured out how to come back alive."
  3. Tyler is spending his spring break with his Mimi and Paw Paw for the remainder of the week.  He accompanied me to work yesterday morning and once again stole the hearts of my coworkers.  As a side note, there always seems to be cookies when he is here, so he thinks I work at the coolest place ever.  Unfortunately, this cool place, coupled with the fact that I have less workload, has contributed to a few extra pounds on my part!
  4. Back injuries:  If this isn't an indication that Josh and I are getting old, I'm not sure what is.  Sunday, Josh came home in severe back pain after lifting something at work.  He went to the doctor the next day and came out with a diagnosis of a slight slipped disc and prescriptions for a steroid and a muscle relaxer.  Unfortunately, the next day is when we had our showing and he had to clean like a crazy man with only two hours notice.

My back stuff isn't new.  I had back issues during pregnancy that I attributed to sciatic pain.  It's lingered after pregnancy and shows up whenever I exert extra energy (i.e. running, walking up hill, or even cleaning the house).  Finally, nearly two years later, I went to a chiropractor.  The diagnosis is a sacroiliac joint dysfunction.  A.k.a...Ryan totally jacked up my pelvis.  I'll be going back next week to review the x rays and begin treatment.
  5. Last, work is going really well lately.  When I first started, I really didn't know what was going on.  The process (or lack of) was strange to me.  I've been given complete freedom to suggest any process change I want.  So, yesterday I convinced our Director and the VP of Finance to completely change the way the company budgets projects and took the responsibility into my own hands to do (complete with building a pricing model).  It is so incredible to feel like I'm bringing change and actually have input into making this company get more business.  I feel really empowered!  The industry of education has always run in my family (teachers), so it's really neat to learn about how our company contributes to the educational field and the changes it is bringing through standardized testing.  A lot has changed since I was in school!!!
