Well, after a long wait we finally have a teacher and first day assignment. Since they stagger kindergarten into groups the first four days, we didn’t know what day Tyler would go. He could have gone this Thursday, Friday, next Monday, or next Tuesday. All of the kindergartners then start together next Wednesday. But to back up, let me fill you in on the school drama. As I’ve said before, the school is brand new. Cool, right? Well, these workers are cutting it close…as in they still aren’t done yet. Not only were our letters mailed late but our open house was cancelled tonight. The teachers did not even get into their classrooms until over the weekend, so needless to say none of the rooms were ready! Not knowing what day he starts has not been fun as a working mother. For whatever days he is not at school, he will be home. His last day of preschool is this Friday, and there is no option to keep him longer! The eager 3/4 year olds have been waiting patiently to come into their classroom! Luckily, Monday works great seeing as Josh is off and…. I’m done with work!
(jumping up and down with excitement)
Tyler will go Monday, stay home Tuesday, and then all of the kids start on Wednesday. I start my new job that Thursday. Couldn’t have worked out better!
As for Tyler’s teacher, I don’t know much about her except what she has said in her letter. She has taught kindergarten for 26 years and has a Master’s degree in early education and child development. Check!
As for the open house? Well, it will be from 8:00-9:00 am the morning of his first day. Again, the fact that I’m home is beneficial here! We drove by the school this afternoon, and there is definitely work to be done on the outside. Let’s just hope it’s ready in the inside!
Tyler is more than ready. And so is our bank account!
