Finally something I did not quit! I started the Couch to 5K training program in mid February, and I actually stuck through it, getting my butt to the gym three times a week! When I started, I was running about two minutes before
stopping to walk. Now, I'm into Week 6 (I'm behind because of
sicknesses) and running 20 mins or close to 2 miles! So, this means I
did NOT run the entire 3 miles this past Saturday. However, I ran about 90% of the race thanks to my partners. I've been used to running on a
treadmill and not on pavement and definitely not up hills! So, I was
proud of myself. Running is like being part of some kind of sorority. People root you on, scream, dress crazy, and are super happy. I suppose I'm being initiated in some weird way!
I never did this program to actually run a 5K; I just really wanted to learn to run. The timing of the Color Mania Race was perfect, and several neighbors planned to go. Unfortunately, the stomach bug hit about half of our group, so not everyone was able to join us. I was definitely slower than my friends--one who just ran her first half marathon and the other who is an avid soccer player. I definitely want to finish the 9 week program and then try another 5k. Oh. And learn to run outside!
Here are a few pictures of before and after!
I even made it into the Color Mania official album of pictures :)
