School, Pee, Diet, Oh My!

Luckily, none of the above involve each other.  :)

Let's start with school.  Tyler is doing great in first grade.  He seems to be making some new friends and doing well with his teacher.  Speaking of his teacher, she is really organized and emails weekly newsletters.  So, she is already a fan of mine!  He has just started homework in which he receives Fridays and has a week to complete.  He will have spelling tests every Friday, so we will have to get used to making flash cards.  OY! I haven't made flash cards since Biology 102 in college!  Made an A by the way.

Ryan is truly having a blast at preschool.  He gets excited when we pull into the driveway which really makes drop offs easy!  Of course, he gets there right around 8:00 am which is when breakfast is served.  So, it's an easy time. :)  September is a month that his entire preschool is talking about heroes.  So, last week the theme was firetrucks.  Ryan got to bring in his huge firetruck and hat.  We had plenty to choose from, but we decided on the biggest one he had.  His teacher sent me these pictures she took and said that Ryan did not want to take the outfit off!  He loves fire trucks for sure!  As a side note, last night I went in at 10:00 pm to check on him before I went to bed.  As I opened the door, I faintly heard "daddy's truck."  I think he was half out of it and probably talking in his sleep, but this kid LOVES his daddy's truck!!!!  Apparently, he even dreams about it!

Pee.  My little redhead is officially potty training!  They take him every hour at school (can you imagine being a preschool teacher of two-year-olds?!).  He finally peed in the potty last week at school and then peed for the first time at home yesterday!  He loves to go try, and he loves to stand up!

Diet.  Well, folks, something is finally working.  I've been hesitant to post about it because I have a history of punking out on diets.  Right after getting home from the beach in July, we joined a swim and athletic club.  I immediately started to work out 4 times a week.  Even though I was going a lot, I wasn't doing very hard workouts.  I had to ease into it!  Two weeks in, I started doing the Body by Vi Challenge which entails two meal replacement shakes.  The shakes are actually delicious and filling, so it has not been too hard to do them.  When the powder tastes like cake batter, I'm sold!  I honestly feel like I'm drinking smoothies and milkshakes!  There are over 100 recipes but I've stuck with adding fruit in the morning and adding peanut butter and cocoa powder in the afternoon.  In between the shakes, I eat a small snack which usually consists of mixed nuts and as of late, celery with peanut butter.  If I don't have something with protein, I will get hungry.  For dinner (or sometimes for lunch depending if Josh is working nights), I eat a healthy meal.  This, combined with exercising, has led to a loss of 7 lbs since the beginning of August.  I am under halfway there, and want to lose at least 10 lbs more, but I'm realizing this is a healthy rate to lose.   I know I'm losing inches, but I made the mistake of never measuring myself!  I would love to get the rest off before the holiday temptations begin!!!

Bonus topic.  Tyler started Brazilian Jitsu a few weeks ago.  Have I posted this before?  I cannot even remember!  And this week, he starts swimming lessons.  Life during the week is crazy.  Oh, and Ryan is doing soccer at preschool.  However, it may not last long b/c so far he isn't participating!

Happy Monday!
