After taking the first part of the winter off, he is back enrolled in swimming but this time on Saturday mornings. We could not fit anything else in our week days! I have a feeling Ryan will be next. He does NOT understand why big brother gets to go swimming and not him! :)
Back several months ago, Tyler joined a Y-Guides tribe. It's a program that is part of the YMCA and is for fathers and sons. Miller, Tyler's best friend across the street, is in his tribe, and the dads meet about every month at a different house. Tribes contain
anywhere from seven to nine fathers and sons. They had a Fall
Outing/Initiation at Camp Kanata, and they will be having a Spring Outing weekend at Camp Sea Gull in Arapahoe, NC. The jury is still out with Josh. As he says, he is not used to this "kumbaya stuff." :) Tyler seems to like it, and from what I understand, the tribe stays together for three years!
Tyler and his friends are practically joined at the hips. He has a few good guy friends on our street that he religiously plays with. Whether they are at our house, outside, or at their houses, they are true best friends. It makes Josh and I so thrilled to see! But man..boys are so LOUD! lol
We had to develop a policy about playing the 3DS, especially during the week. We finally settled on him earning time. If he does his daily chores plus an extra chore (i.e. dust, wipe counters), he earns 30 mins of playing time a day. He can either use it that day or build a "bank" of time. It's been working great.
Tyler is doing great in school. I often feel really behind with what he does. Josh usually picks him up from school and helps him with his homework, so by the time I get home from work, he is already done! He is whizzing through his math work and reading/writing assignments. We really love his teacher. He is learning so much this year! We are on track to stay with this elementary school; however, we have applied for a charter school in our area. We will find out in a month or so if we got in. We have no issues with where he goes now but wouldn't mind a year-round schedule and the reputation of this other school!
We are rounding out the last months of Tyler being six. I cannot fathom him turning SEVEN in two months!
