If you have not discovered Pinterest, you are either living underneath a rock or don’t understand the greatness of this concept. It’s ok. I’m here to help. At first I had no idea what the thing was and thought that I really didn’t need more of an excuse to be on the computer. But, once I figured out how much fun it is, I usually log on at least once a week.
Basically in a nutshell, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. All of those pages you tear out of magazines of things or ideas that you like or websites you bookmark …well, you can just “pin” them to your pinboard in one easy place. Since it’s a website, you can view it on any computer that has internet access.
Below is a snapshot of my virtual pinboard. I have categories in “kid projects, “for the home,” “photography ideas,” “organization,” “Duke Children’s calendar project,” “food…I love food,” "fall,” “Christmas,” and “gifts.” You can make as many boards as you want and pin as many things as you want.
For example, here are a few of my “pins.”
Um hello, who ever thought of using drawers as hangers is a genius!
Here’s a really cool teacher gift idea
Ever thought of using a drip pan as a magnetic play area?
Pretty Fall wreath idea
Turn the pan upside down and make cookie bowls!
In order to “pin” something, you can do it one of two ways. You can add the “pin it” feature to your bookmarks in Internet Explorer or Firefox. Each time you come across something you like on a webpage you are on , you click the “pin it” in your bookmarks section and it will automatically add it to your account and board of your choice.
Or, you can pin things that your friends or other pinterest users have on their boards. I love to steal ideas
This is all fun, but if I don’t actually try any of these ideas then I’m not sure what the point of this would be. So, I recently created a “pinterest successes” board. As you can see, I’ve only done two ideas but I plan to fulfill more ideas soon especially as the holidays approach!
I don’t work for Pinterest or get any money for my review. I just simply think my friends need to have a more “pinteresting” life. When you join, look me up so that I can
steal view your ideas.
